Polarimetric observations of southern hemisphere young solar-type stars

چکیده
A report is given on some linear and circular polarimetric observations of young solar-type stars. Despite a somewhat high level of instrumental polarization, the measurements were able to detect polarizations ∼ 0.0001 or 0.01%. Temporal variability has been discovered for 59 Vir with an indication that circular polarization is also present. A polarization at a level of p ∼ 1% was found associated with the star SAO 251015. Marginal polarizations are also suspected for the stars HD 155555 and HD 1835. For SAO 154972 (TU Pyx), a sudden change in polarization ∼ 2% occurred over some tens of minutes and an associated circular polarization was also detected.

Solar Latitudinal Distribution of Solar Flares around the Sun and Their Association with Forbush Decreases during the Period of 1986 to 2003
Solar flare events of high importance were utilised to study solar latitudinal frequency distribution of the solar flares in northern and southern hemisphere for the solar cycle 22 to recent solar cycle 23. A statistical analysis was performed to obtain their relationship with sudden storm commencement (SSCs) and Forbush decrease events (Fd) of cosmic ray intensity. An 11-year cyclic variation ...
متن کاملDiscovery of Close Companions to the Nearby Young Stars Hd 199143 and Hd 358623
Young stellar systems in the solar neighborhood provide valuable laboratories for detailed studies of star and planet formation. The bright F8V star HD 199143 and the Li-rich late-type emission line star HD 358623 are among the nearest young stars identified to date, and may be members of a young association in Capricornus. We present high-resolution near-infrared images of these two sources, o...
متن کاملRadio observations of IRAS selected southern hemisphere classical Be stars
We present the first radio observations of a sample of 13 optically and IR bright southern hemisphere classical Be stars made from the Australian Telescope Compact Array at 3.5cm and 6.3cm simultaneously. One star, δ Cen was detected at 3.5cm and a second, µ Cen was also thought to have been detected; further observations of this source are required to confirm this detection. No sources were de...
متن کاملSearch for Associations Containing Young stars ( SACY ) ⋆ , ⋆ ⋆ I . Sample & Searching Method
We report results from a high-resolution optical spectroscopic survey aimed to search for nearby young associations and young stars among optical counterparts of ROSAT All-Sky Survey X-ray sources in the Southern Hemisphere. We selected 1953 late-type (B − V ≥ 0.6), potentially young, optical counterparts out of a total of 9574 1RXS sources for follow-up observations. At least one high-resoluti...
متن کاملSearch for the Optical Counterparts of Southern Anomalous X-Ray Pulsars and Radio-Quiet Neutron Stars in Young Supernova Remnants
We report on our search for the optical counterparts of the Southern Hemisphere anomalous X-ray pulsar 1E1048.1-5937 and the radio-quiet neutron stars in supernova remnants Puppis A, RCW 103, and PKS 1209-52. The observations were carried out with the new MIT/CfA MagIC camera on the Magellan-I 6.5 m telescope in Chile. We present deep multiband optical images of the X-ray error circles for each...
